About

Community Housing Alternatives (CHA) is a subsidiary corporation of CRC. CHA offers housing and home ownership opportunities for people with disabilities and low income households in Southeastern Michigan. Through development and supportive management of affordable and accessible rental housing and through training and assistance with the home purchase process, CHA assists households in identifying and securing the housing option of their choice.

CHA is led by a separate governing Board of Directors made up of community members who have a vested interest in affordable housing. CHA is involved in the acquisition and maintenance of properties to be used for rentals or sale to further the mission.

CHA raises funds to rehabilitate or purchase homes through grants from local, state, and federal housing programs. Trusts and endowments can also be used to secure properties for individuals wishing to live in their own homes. Operating revenue is maintained by additional grants, developer fees, and rents collected from CHA tenants. CHA strives to keep its operating costs at a minimum. CHA is committed to success and thus works closely with CRC in shared office space and expenses. CHA also works collaboratively with households and other agencies to assure that the perfect housing option can be found for each customer.
